Celebratin' the Holidays

Unbelievable...Joseph is already ONE month old. He's weighing in at a hefty 7# 7oz! The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. We've had a great time introducing Joey to many family and friends. He met his Great Grandma Dvoracek, who it turns out, does not like to share him with anyone! We spent Christmas Eve with my family. The whole crowd was there with Andy and Margo in from New York. Dan's mom, Pat, was able to fly in on the 24th after her flight on the 23rd was cancelled because of the big winter storm. Christmas Day was spent with the extended Stapleton Family. Jim, Jenny, Lily, and Lucas drove up from Chicago on the 26th. Lily was so excited to meet her new cousin and Lucas gave lots of hugs to "Baby Joey." We were sad to see the Flynns leave today, but are looking forward to meeting again in February for some water park fun. Tomorrow we are looking forward to a visit from our good friends, James and Jennifer. James is responsible for our beautiful Christmas card photos. We'll be spending the New Year with my family and our good friends, the Duffy's. We are wishing you all the fun the holidays have to offer.

Grandma Flynn Visits

Yesterday we picked up Grandma Flynn from the airport. She came in from Chicago to visit the newest Flynn. We're happy she moved her trip up since Joseph moved his arrival up. Last night we had a Grandmas and Grandpa dinner. Super Dad made an awesome meal of stuffed shells and Grandma D. made a delicious apple/caramel dessert. Today is a snowy Minnesota afternoon and we are enjoying plenty of movies and a nice fire. Joseph is sleeping soundly. He likes to get his zzzzs in so he can wake up around 3am.

Joseph's First Weekend as a Party Animal

Like any Flynn, Joseph looks forward to the weekend. He started out with his first party on Friday where he was a hit at my work holiday party. The girls were all over him. On Saturday, our very good friends Jennifer and James came from Des Moines for a visit. Joseph worked his way through a very grueling photo shoot and stayed up all night. He used Sunday to wind down. After a very successful bath, he settled down to watch the Vikings game. He then immediately filled his diaper with a very satisfied look on his face. Whew...what a weekend!

The Day Joseph Was Born - Monday November 30, 2009

I was on my second to last call. The plan was to work through December 11th and then pick a day for induction between the 14th and 18th. At 1am I got called for a delivery at St. John's hospital. I said good night to Dan and headed to the hospital. After the delivery around 1am, a patient scheduled for c-section came to the hopital with ruptured membranes. I called Dan to let him know I wouldn't be home until much later. At 2:30am I started the c-section. When I was almost done with the section, I started to feel extremely nauseated. I finished the c-section and after dictating, I became sick. Turns out, I was in labor - 4cm with contractions every 1-2min. I called Dan around 5am and Dan came to the hopital. After a full day of nausea, vomiting, and contractions. Joseph James was born after 1 hour of pushing at 6:20pm. Weight: 6lbs 7oz. Height: 21inches. Dan cut the cord. Dr. Less did the delivery. Grandma and Grandpa Dvoracek and Uncle Nick and Aunt Katie came to the hospital to visit.
